Dozens of people from across the county joined community-arranged searches for missing Kondwani Mwale across Wiltshire and Somerset on Friday.
The 24-year-old was last seen at Amber House – a hostel for the homeless – in Trowbridge on the afternoon of 26 October – nearly a week ago.
Kondwani posted a suicide note on social media and later took a call from a friend. In the call, he was distressed and running water was heard in the background.
Since police divers and volunteers from Wiltshire Search and Rescue have been trawling the West Wiltshire and East Somerset area. The searches have so far focused on a stretch of the River Avon between Bradford on Avon and Batheaston.
On Friday, dozens of people gathered at various locations in the focus area – with the community-arranged events deliberately avoiding the police search zones.
ITV West Country joined the search originating from Freshford, Somerset, with event organiser Liv Sladden and Kondwani’s brother Dalitso offering interviews to TV crews in the hope that further, wider, publicity will help bring him home safe.
If you have any information that could help officers locate Kondwani, please call 101 and quote reference number 54200107780. Aways call 999 in an emergency.
