A shop in Swindon has been cordoned off as a crime scene this afternoon following a broad daylight robbery.
A man armed with a hammer reportedly robbed the Pop-In store in Cavendish Square, Park South, around 4.40pm, sparking both uniformed and plain clothed officers to race to the scene in search of the suspect.
The shop was cordoned off as detectives from Swindon CID and forensics were called in to investigate.
Officers remain in the area searchIng for the outstanding suspect.
A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: “Officers are currently at the scene of a robbery at the Pop In shop in Cavendish Square, Swindon.
“It happened at 4.30pm this afternoon (01/10) when a man entered the shop and threatened a member of staff, before stealing money from the till.
“Nobody was injured, but the staff were left shaken by what happened.
“Anyone with information should call Swindon CID on 101, quoting log 246 of today (01/10).”
