A Swindon councillor is warning people not to ‘take matters into their own hands’ following a paedophile hunter sting on one of his constituents this morning.
Police officers were called to Barrington Close in Liden at around 9am, after a local resident was trapped by Justice for the Innocent near Liden Primary School.
The 39-year-old father was arrested on on suspicion of child grooming and remains in custody.
Councillor Dale Heenan said: “A lot of people have heard about this mornings incident. The Police are involved and the Council Safeguarding Officer has visited the school to support the headteacher and staff.
“With this being a criminal matter we won’t hear about a lot of the details. I just wanted to reassure everyone that what needs to happen is happening.
“You may want too, but please don’t take the matter into your hands.”
