Concern has been raised over a Swindon sex offender’s photographs of young girls.

Dr Prabhat Sakya was convicted of sexually assaulting two women on a train – by ‘trapping them in their seats’ and touching their bodies whilst he felt his crotch.

When questioned by police back in December 2019, he said he was ‘just flirting, not masturbating’.

Swindon Magistrates’ Court handed him a suspended prison sentence of 52 weeks and ordered him to register as a sex offender for ten years. He was also told to complete 60 rehab days.

But the 52-year-old has caused significant concern in the community, after photographing women and young girls locally and uploading the images to Instagram.

Whilst it is not illegal to photograph anybody – including children – in public in this way and share their photograph on social media, Sakya’s history has caused people understandable worry.

Between 31 May and 27 June this year, dozens of photographs were posted on his Instagram account. Most featured young females, many believed to be aged in their early teens.

This month’s photographs, taken at Swindon Designer Outlet Village, feature dozens of women and young girls – some with the captions: “Sweet sixteen”, “So hot”, “My love”, “I love you” and “Black minidress”, to name just a few.

In one photograph, two women have been photographed whilst walking along Sheppard Street in Swindon town centre. Both were wearing shorts and the image was captured from behind. It was uploaded and captioned “Denim shorts”.

A spokesperson for McArthur Glenn, the company that owns Swindon Designer Outlet said: “We have spoken to the Centre team and they’ve alerted the Security team to this Instagram page and accompanying posts.

“The Centre team has also been in touch with the local Police and reported the page to Instagram for its inappropriate content.”

Wiltshire 999s uncovered this profile in February 2022, publishing an article with the headline: ‘Creepy’ Swindon sex offender ‘secretly photographing unsuspecting girls and women’.

One set of photographs posted on 11 October 2021 featured two schoolgirls wearing uniforms walking down the street. One photograph was captioned “Schoolgirls”, whilst another said “Fair maiden”.
