A Chippenham has been charged over an alleged attack on a child in a play park.
30-year-old Aaron Prangle is accused of assaulting a seven-year-old boy and moments later his own girlfriend during an incident on 26 May this year.
Prosecutor Tom Power alleged that he used “such excessive force and violence” to break up a fight between two “tiny boys” – his child, aged four, and the other youngster.
It’s said that after the boy was assaulted, he hid behind some railings. He claims to have witnessed the defendant go on to argue with his girlfriend and then assault her.
Prangle, of Elizabeth Place, pleaded not guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm on the child and assault by beating on the woman.
Due to the seriousness of the case, the magistrates court declined jurisdiction.
The defendant is due to appear at Swindon Crown Court for a plea and trial preparation hearing on 5 January. He was released on unconditional bail.
