A child’s electric scooter has been seized after it was ridden through a crash scene.
Emergency services were dealing with a three-vehicle road traffic collision on Kingswood Avenue, Swindon, at around 11.30am on Monday (26 August).
As paramedics treated the driver of an overturned Volkswagen Golf and officers arranged recovery of the cars involved, two young boys on an e-scooter rode through the scene.
The electric vehicles are illegal to use on public roads in Wiltshire, with riders facing potential prosecution for having no insurance or a driving licence.
The children – believed to be aged around 12 or 13 years – were stopped and a police officer quickly nabbed the scooter and seized it.
Officers are understood to have taken the details of the rider, though it’s not known if they’ll pursue a criminal prosecution against him for road traffic offences.
In relation to the crash, a 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop after a collision and failing to provide a specimen for analysis.
The suspect was reportedly found hiding in a wheelie bin just metres from the incident.
