A driver ‘found hiding in a wheelie bin’ has been arrested after a crash in Swindon.

Police raced to reports of a three-vehicle road traffic collision in Kingswood Avenue, Park North, at around 11.20am on Monday morning (26 August).

They discovered the driver of an overturned silver Volkswagen Golf had exited the wrecked vehicle and fled the scene on foot.

Searches were carried out and a 30-year-old man was reportedly found hiding in a wheelie bin.

The suspect was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop after a collision and failing to provide a specimen for analysis – before he was taken to an ambulance for treatment.

A blue Jaguar and a silver Hyundai were damaged in the incident, which happened on the junction with Lyndhurst Crescent.
