A restaurant in Swindon is tonight a crime scene after a teenage boy was stabbed.
Police rushed to the incident at Piri Co in Cricklade Road shortly after 6pm this evening (10 March).
A 17-year-old boy was rushed to hospital after being attacked with a knife, thought to be a machete.
An eyewitness, who was in the shop with her husband and 12-year-old son at the time, said “a pr**k runs in with a machete stabbing the boy in front of him”.
Adding that her family were “so lucky not to have been hurt”.
Police officers have cordoned off the chicken restaurant and part of the footpath outside as an investigation into the serious assault is launched.
The victim is believed to have suffered a single wound to his back. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Detective Sergeant Scott Anger, from Swindon CID, said: “Officers are currently carrying out enquiries in the area and people living in locally are likely to notice a police presence throughout the evening.
“Our investigation is at a very early stage and we would urge anyone with information to come forward.”
Wiltshire Police say no arrests have been made.
Any witnesses, or anyone who can assist our enquiries, should call Swindon CID on 101, quoting log 246 of today (10/03).”
