A 17-year-old boy who was stabbed in the grounds of a primary school after being chased by a large group of people has in a ‘serious but stable’ condition in hospital.

Just before 4pm on Thursday 29 March, a 17-year-old male was chased the group near to Eldene Primary School in Colingsmead. He was pursued into the grounds and stabbed.

He was taken to the Great Western Hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

POLICE OFFICERS AT GUARDING THE SCENE

Detective Inspector Darren Hannant said: “Since we received the initial call from South Western Ambulance Service, numerous enquiries have been carried out by a team of officers. Extensive searches have taken place in the area and house-to-house enquiries continue along with the gathering of forensic, CCTV and witness evidence.

“The group involved in the incident ran into the school grounds and then back out again immediately after the attack which all happened in just a few minutes.

“The victim was wearing dark clothing at the time and had been out on his green, purple and blue mountain bike that afternoon.

“Incidents like this are uncommon but they understandably cause concern in the local community, especially given that this incident occurred on school premises. We take reports of this nature extremely seriously and we are doing all that we can to find those responsible.”

Anyone who saw the incident on Thursday, or anyone who has information in relation to the incident, should call police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
