Two shoppers have died while visiting a busy shopping centre in Swindon.
The tragic fatal incidents happened outside Asda at the West Swindon District Centre on Friday (13 February) and Sunday (15 February).
In both situations, men fell unresponsive and suffered cardiac arrests. First aid was administered by staff and members of the public and emergency services were called.
Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance were dispatched on each occasion, landing in Whitehill Park off Tewkesbury Way.
Despite the best efforts of medics, both of the men – who were aged in their 70s – were pronounced dead at the scene.
The shopping centre was closed while the emergency services responded, but later reopened.
In a statement, a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “We were called to Asda, West Swindon, at 4.55pm on Friday following reports of a man in his 70s in cardiac arrest.
“Extensive efforts were made to save the man’s life, but he sadly died around 40 minutes later.
“There are no suspicious circumstances and our thoughts are with his family.”
In a second statement, they continued: “At around 10.15am yesterday we responded to a medical episode at the West Swindon District Centre involving a man in his 70s.
“He was sadly declared dead at the scene.
“There are no suspicious circumstances and our thoughts are with his family.”
