A man seen damaging vehicles whilst brandishing a knife in a Swindon street has been arrested.
Armed police were dispatched to the scene in Tadpole Garden Village at around midday following a report about a man walking around carrying a six inch blade.
He was seen to smash wing mirrors on a van before returning to his home address.
Refusing to allow police access to his first floor flat, he threw wine bottles at officers from the front window. Officers had to break down a door in order to detain the 43-year-old.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “We attended an incident today concerning the wellbeing and safety of a man who was seen in the street with a knife.
“He returned to his address where he refused access to police. Officers had to force entry and the man, aged 43, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a knife and criminal damage.
