Police responded to reports of a missing five-year-old boy in Westbury today (Tuesday).
Officers were immediately dispatched to the area to carry out urgent searches for the youngster.
But through luck alone, the child was located by a passing South Western Ambulance Service crew.
The medics stopped the boy as he attempted to cross the A350 and took him home to safety.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “[Roads Policing Unit] happened to be in Westbury this afternoon when a call came in for a missing 5 year old child.
“Fortunately, before we could arrive, a passing [South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust] crew noticed the child trying to cross the A350, stopped, and took them home. Nice work.”
