A horse rider has been seriously injured at an equestrian event near Melksham this afternoon.
Air ambulance critical care medics were called to the scene in Atworth at around 1pm after the rider – understood to be a middle aged woman – was thrown her horse.
The casualty was taking part in an event called the Neston Ride at Ganbrook Farm.
One eyewitness told Wiltshire 999s that ‘it’s not looking good’ for the injured woman.
The extent of her injuries are yet to be confirmed, but she’s been airlifted to Southmead Hospital in Bristol for treatment.
