The A4 has been closed in both directions due to a road traffic collision.
Wiltshire Air Ambulance landed near the scene in Box where it’s believed a cyclist travelling down Box Hill has – for reasons currently unknown – fallen from his bicycle.
The collision happened near to the Beech Road junction at around 8.30pm this evening.
The yellow and green helicopter touched down in a field of Mill Lane so critical care medics could attend the incident on the main road between Bath and Chippenham.
Faresaver, the bus company, say their X31 service is stuck within the closure and may have a knock-on effect on subsequent services.
UPDATE 9.46PM: The male cyclist’s injuries were not as serious as first thought; they have been taken to hospital by land ambulance, accompanied by critical care medics.
The road has reopened in both directions.
