A Calne man has appeared in court charged a string of offences – including making a bomb hoax and possession of a blade in public.
Paul Radley was arrested after officers were called to reports of a man with a kitchen knife at Calne Recreation Court on Sunday (3 August).
The 53-year-old, of The Pippin, Calne, was subsequently charged with five offences – including alleged crimes from previous dates – and remanded police custody.
Appearing in the dock at Salisbury Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday (5 August), he pleaded not guilty to the following allegations:
• Bomb hoax – communicating to Wiltshire Police that there was an explosive device at Domino’s Pizza in The Pippin, Calne, on 1 July 2025
• Criminal damage to a community defibrillator belonging to Wiltshire Council on 1 August 2025
• Drunk and disorderly in a public place on 1 August 2025
• Possession of an eight-inch kitchen knife in a public place, namely Calne Recreation Court, on 3 August 2025
• Assault by beating of an emergency worker, namely a detention officer at Melksham Police Station’s custody suite, on 4 August 2025
The case has been adjourned for trial at the same court on 2 July 2026. It’s expected to last an entire day. The defendant was released on unconditional bail.
