A Melksham man who threatened a traffic warden after parking in a disabled bay on four occasions has been convicted and sentenced.

Che Lee-Cummins, who has a history of violent and abusive behaviour, appeared at Salisbury Magistrates’ Court on 24 April 2026.

The justices heard that the defendant, of Nasturtium Grove, Melksham, parked unlawfully in disabled bays despite not holding a blue badge or other permit.

On at least four occasions, he directed abusive and threatening behaviour towards a female traffic warden aged in her 60s – now known as a Civil Enforcement Officer.

Two of the incidents in Market Place were captured on CCTV, Wiltshire Council confirmed.

The court heard that Lee-Cummins later sought out the officer and continued to shout abuse at her in the street. His behaviour caused her distress and intimidation.

The 32-year-old pleaded guilty to using threatening behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress and was ordered to pay £100 in compensation.

Back in 2024, the defendant was sentenced for seriously assaulting a driving instructor – who was teaching a teenage boy to drive on the A4 in Corsham.

Cllr Martin Smith, Cabinet Member for Highways, said: “Our Civil Enforcement Officers are simply doing their jobs to keep roads safe, accessible and fair for everyone.

“They should never be subjected to intimidation, threats or abuse for enforcing the law.

“This case sends a clear message that abusive and threatening behaviour towards council staff will be taken seriously and can result in prosecution.

“There is no excuse for abuse, and we will continue to stand up for our officers and support them when they are targeted simply for doing their work.”
