Police officers have raided three properties across Swindon as part of South West drugs crackdown known as Operation Scorpion.

This morning (7 July), warrants were executed at houses in Inglesham Road, Penhill, Ferndale Road and Belle Vue Road in Old Town at around 8am.

As a result of the raid in Belle Vue Road, two local men – aged 29 and 52 – were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs, possession of offensive weapons in a private place and possession of Class B drugs.

The weapons found included a Rambo knife and a set of nunchucks, alongside class B and C drugs. They both remain in custody at Gablecross Police Station.

In Penhill, no arrests were made, but officers located a variety of weapons including air rifles and pistols, plus suspected cocaine and an illegal knuckleduster.

In Ferndale Road, the person of interest was found to have left the address and nothing was found.

Inspector David Tippetts said: “The operation this morning (07/07), where three warrants were carried out, has been very successful.

“A number of arrests were made and a substantial amount of Class A drugs has been seized along with a variety of suspected weapons.

“Op Scorpion is a dedicated week to crack down on local and county lines drug dealing, however this is part of our ongoing work to stop drugs coming into our county, into our communities.

“This is a clear message to criminals intent on illegal drug supply – there is no place for you in our region.

“If you have information you can call us on 101 or if you would like to pass on anonymously, you can speak to the independent charity Crimestoppers 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year on 0800 555 111.”
