Usually quiet cul-de-sac in Swindon closed by police for ongoing incident

A cul-de-sac in Swindon’s Old Town has been closed by police this morning.

Three police vans and a riot van were spotted travelling into the area at around 10.30am.

Roman Crescent, off Westlecott Road, has been closed by officers.

A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: “We are currently dealing with an ongoing incident at an address in Roman Crescent, Old Town, Swindon.

“We were called to the property shortly before 10am this morning due to concern for a man inside.

“We have closed the road while we deal with the incident, but would like to reassure people that there is no threat to the wider public.”


UPDATE: 12.45PM: Wiltshire Police has released a further statement:

A Wiltshire Police spokespersonsaid: “We were called to a property in Roman Crescent, Old Town, Swindon, shortly before 10am this morning (22/02) due to concern for a man inside.

“The incident has now been resolved safely and an 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and making threats to kill. He is currently in custody at Gablecross Police Station.”
