Perverts around the world, and locally, are using an anonymous image website to request and share nudes of women from across Swindon and Wiltshire.

More than 40 local women’s names appeared on a list within the ‘Swindon girls’ board, alongside either partially undressed or fully nude photographs of some.

The Swindon board was inundated with comments from women on the request list or friends who had rushed to defend them since details of the website were shared on Facebook in the past 48 hours. Others have stated that a police investigation was underway.

The ‘Wiltshire is never mentioned’ board is less popular, with only a small number of requests for photographs. Though, there were more fully nude photographs shared within it.

Anonymous users made comments on the Wiltshire board encouraging others to share private sexual photographs of women from the Wiltshire area. One comment read: “Does Wiltshire have no sl*ts? Malmesbury, a town in Wiltshire used to be the f**king capital of the country!”

In the UK it’s a criminal offence to share private, sexual materials, either photos or videos, of another person without their consent and with the purpose of causing embarrassment or distress.

The offence, often referred to as ‘Revenge Porn’, applies both online and offline and to images which are shared electronically or in a more traditional way so includes the uploading of images on the internet, sharing by text and e-mail, or showing someone a physical or electronic image.

It is understood that Wiltshire Police has received a number of reports and is investigating.
