A paedophile has been jailed for two years after accosting a teenage girl as she walked home from school in Trowbridge.
Jamie Fowler, of Locking in North Somerset, was sentenced at Swindon Crown Court on 13 October after pleading guilty to breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
The order, which has been in place for more than a decade, prohibits registered sex offender Fowler from contacting or approaching any girl under the age of 16.
But on 15 July 2025, Fowler drove to Trowbridge and approached a 15-year-old schoolgirl who was making her way home.
The 32-year-old repeatedly turned his vehicle around to approach the teenager and made inappropriate, sexualised comments about her appearance.
The frightened girl called her foster mother in distress, asking to be collected immediately because she feared what might happen next.
Fowler has a history of sexual offending involving children and women, dating back to 2013.
At Bristol Crown Court that year, he received a 15-month suspended prison sentence after admitting offences including voyeurism, exposure and sexual activity in front of children.
His offending included secretly filming a two-year-old girl being changed at a leisure centre in Weston-super-Mare and making a rape threat towards a 14-year-old girl he had followed in his car.
In January 2021, Fowler was jailed for 16 months after breaching a Sexual Offences Prevention Order by secretly filming women jogging.
Police discovered 17 video clips on his phone, believed to have been recorded between March and June 2020, showing women exercising alone in locations including woodland and canal paths.
Following his latest conviction, Wiltshire Police’s Local Crime Investigator Dalton said: “Fowler has been subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for more than a decade and is fully aware of the restrictions placed upon him.
“These conditions exist to protect young people, yet he chose to deliberately disregard them.
“On this occasion, he made a sustained effort to engage a 15-year-old girl in conversation, turning his vehicle around multiple times to approach her.
“He then made inappropriate and sexualised comments about her appearance, causing her considerable fear and distress.
“No young person should feel unsafe while walking home from school. The impact of Fowler’s actions on the victim has been significant, and I hope today’s sentence provides her with some reassurance that his behaviour has been recognised for the seriousness that it deserves.
“I would like to commend the victim for the courage and maturity she has shown throughout this investigation.
“Reporting incidents of this nature can be incredibly daunting, but her actions have helped ensure a dangerous individual has been brought before the courts.”
Fowler was also placed on the Sex Offenders Register for ten years and will be included on the Children’s Barred List or Adults’ Barred List. He was ordered to pay a £187 surcharge.
