Wiltshire Police has increased rural road patrols over horse rider safety fears.
PCSO Sheppard spent time in the Calne countryside to provide a high visibility presence on Sunday (14 March).
The move comes after a rise in reports of vehicles passing horse riders too quickly and too closely.
Motorists are being reminded to take extra care when overtaking slower road users.
Drivers should slow down to a maximum of 10mph and allow at least two metres of space when passing horses, pedestrians or cyclists.
Police say patience from motorists will help to keep everyone safe on Wiltshire’s rural roads.
A force spokesperson said: “On Sunday 14th March, PCSO Sheppard spent time on patrol in our more rural areas.
“We have increased our rural patrols following a rise in reports of vehicles passing horse riders too quickly and too closely.
“Please remember to pass slower road users carefully slowing down (max 10mph) and giving at least 2 meters of space when passing horses, pedestrians or cyclists.
“Your patience helps keep everyone safe.”
