Wiltshire Police has issued an update on the Christmas Day murder in Devizes.
Emergency services were called to the scene of a serious assault in a first-floor flat in Keepers Road at around 8.10am on 25 December.
Despite the best efforts of medics, including critical care teams from both Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance and Great Western Air Ambulance, an elderly woman, in her 80s, died.

In an update, the force said that a preliminary post-mortem has been carried out and her death is being treated as murder. The cause of death has not yet been established.
A 63-year-old woman, who was taken to hospital with serious injuries, was arrested on suspicion of murder and following treatment she is now in police custody for questioning.
“We are not looking for anybody else in connection with the incident”, a spokesperson said.
Adding: “A cordon set up at the address is still in place while a full investigation is carried out.
“Local residents will see an increased policing presence and we would urge anyone with concerns, or if you have any information that could help with our enquiries, to speak to one of our officers.”
