An armed man has been arrested by firearms officers following an assault in Salisbury.
Police were called to reports of a disorder in Bedwin Street on Thursday evening (27 November).
The street was taped off as armed officers – many carrying rifles – were deployed to the scene.
A man, who was brandishing a snapped broom handle, is suspected of assaulting another man.
The victim, aged in his 60s, sustained injuries which aren’t thought to be serious.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police confirmed that a 42-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm, possession of an offensive weapon and affray.
He remains in custody for questioning and the investigation is ongoing.
