999 news reporter Daniel Jae Webb has swapped his bicycle in for a motorbike in a bid to get to incidents faster and extend the distance he can travel to cover news stories.
Up until last week, Wiltshire 999s’ focus was on the Swindon area due to the limitation so a bicycle, with news outside Swindon being covered by our four freelance photographers. Whilst they will still play a part of our future, serious ongoing incidents will be attended by Daniel when possible.
“This move opens a door of opportunities for Wiltshire 999s. It allows me to cover news anywhere in Wiltshire, in the same way I’ve been reporting news in Swindon for seven years”, Daniel said.
“It is our readers living outside of Swindon who will see the biggest change in our content. I often receive complaints from people about how we focus on Swindon – I’ve listened to them.
“Although, I will continue to do regular bicycle news patrols around the Swindon town centre area on a regular basis. I have stumbled upon many incidents by simply riding around.”
