Dozens of firefighters are currently tackling a blaze involving a row of houses in Swindon.
Emergency services were first called to the major fire affecting four homes in Walter Close, in The Prinnels, at around 3.15pm this afternoon (Thursday, 14 July).
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed it has more than 50 firefighters on scene, from stations including Swindon, Stratton, Westlea, Chippenham and Corsham.
The ambulance service is also in attendance. However, no one’s believed to have been harmed in the incident – with residents and pets escaping the flames.
Stuart Gillion, a DWFRS group manager, said: “It is not currently clear how this fire started but once it is extinguished, we will begin an investigation.
“Our crews are working hard with colleagues from Wiltshire Police and Swindon Borough Council to ensure the safety of residents and prevent the fire spreading further.”
Walter Close is closed by police in both directions to motorists. The area where the fire service is working is also cordoned off to the public.
