A man’s been arrested following the sexual assault of a child in Tisbury on Thursday evening.
The incident happened around 11pm in the Tisbury Park area, with a crime scene cordon in place until midday on Friday.
A 22-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and is currently in custody.
The female victim – understood to be under the age of 18 – is receiving support and care from specialist officers at this time.
As part of the ongoing investigation, police are continuing to appeal for witnesses and would like to speak to anyone who may have heard or seen anything suspicious in this location at this time.
DI Joe Saunders said: “We would like to hear from anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious or anyone acting suspiciously on Thursday night or in the early hours of Friday morning.
“Tisbury is a close knit community and I appreciate the increased police presence will cause some concerns. However, pIease be assured this is part of our investigation and we will try and keep any disruption to a minimum.
