Several youths who started a fire were detained after fleeing police officers.

At around 8.30pm on Sunday (14 May), a smoke plume could be seen issuing from a field in Larkhill.

Officers, who were on patrol at the time, stopped and walked towards the group of youths – who subsequently fled the area.

A search – supported by a police dog unit – was carried out and the youths were detained nearby.

Officers took them home and provided words of advice regarding the potential “dangerous consequences of their actions”, a Wiltshire Police spokesperson confirmed.
