A head-on crash involving two lorries on the A350 has left two people hospitalised.

Emergency services were called to the busy route in Beanacre, near Melksham, at around 11.30am this morning (Monday).

The traffic collision sparked a significant response, with 999 crews racing to the scene – and closing the road in both directions.

The incident involved two lorries and a car. It’s understood the lorries collided head-on, while the car rear-ended one of the lorries following the smash.

Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance landed nearby, as critical care medics provided urgent care to two casualties alongside ambulance crews.

Several fire crews attended alongside fire officers, and roads policing units.

But injured people were taken to the Royal United Hospital in Bath for treatment. However, nobody is believed to have sustained life-changing or life-threatening injuries.

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 11:34hrs on Monday 07 July to a road traffic collision near Melksham.

“We sent two double-crewed land ambulances, an air ambulance, an operations officer, and a rapid response vehicle to the scene.

“We conveyed two patients by land ambulance to Royal United Hospital Bath.”

The crash happened on the 40mph stretch of the route, close to the deliveries entrance for Beechfield House.

The road remained closed at 3pm, as the complex recovery of both lorries remained ongoing. The road reopened at around 5pm.
