A woman has been rescued from the River Avon following an incident in Chippenham.
Emergency services rushed to the Monkton Park area following reports of a person in the water at around 7.45pm yesterday evening (Friday, 5 August).
Several fire crews, an ambulance and half a dozen police vehicles were witnessed attending the incident – with most parked on or around The Bridge.
Wiltshire 999s understands that a woman entered the River Avon whilst suffering a mental health crisis.
When first responders arrived at the scene, following some engagement, the woman was brought to safety.
South Western Ambulance Service said it transported the casualty to Royal United Hospital in Bath.
