A woman was pushed to the ground by an unknown suspect in Chippenham today (Monday).
Police are investigating the incident, which saw the victim attacked whilst walking her dog along the cycle path close to the River Avon near to Riverside Drive.
During the assault at approximately 9am, the woman – aged in her 40s – was pushed to the ground from behind.
The victim told police that she believes the same person may have been loitering in the area at the same time the previous morning (Sunday, 12 November). However, no description has been provided.
The woman was uninjured in the incident, but was left shaken.
Det Con Laura Barwood said: “We understand this incident will cause concern amongst the local community but please be reassured we are carrying out extensive enquiries.
“We know this cycle track is well used by local people and we would urge anyone who was in the area on Sunday morning, or this morning, who believes they may have seen somebody acting suspicious, to call police immediately.
“We’d also urge residents in Monkton Park living near to the River Avon to check their doorbell cameras for any footage which could be significant to our investigation.”
