A woman has suffered life-threatening injuries after colliding with a wall near Melksham this morning.

It happened just before 1.30am on the B3353 through Whitley, closing the main road for nearly eight hours following the serious crash involving a  silver Kia Cee’d.

The driver, a woman in her 20s from Corsham, suffered multiple injuries including a serious head injury and is in Southmead Hospital in a life threatening condition.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “For reasons which are currently unknown, the driver of the vehicle failed to negotiate a bend near to Shaw C of E Primary School and collided with a wall.

“No other vehicles were involved and nobody else was injured during the collision.

“The road was closed until approximately 8am this morning while collision investigators attended the scene and the incident was cleared.

“Anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the vehicle prior to the collision should call 101 and quote log number 11 of February 28.”
