A woman has been banned from parts of Wiltshire after her boyfriend suffered a knife injury.
PC Ellie Grindrod told Swindon Magistrates’ Court today (Friday) that Shannon Culleton was arrested after police responded to reports of a disorder in Devizes earlier this week.
The 21-year-old was taken into custody following an alleged assault her boyfriend Muhanad Abdulraheem Dafaalah outside Chick-O-Land in Sidmouth Street.
He was also arrested in connection with the altercation. Speaking to officers, he alleged that Culleton had become jealous and caused a small cut to his finger with a knife.
She was subsequently arrested for assault occasioning actual bodily harm, but Dafaalah, 19, refused to support a prosecution. The case was closed with no further action.
The alleged victim – a refugee – was previously made the subject of a Domestic Violence Protection Order (DVPO) when Culleton sustained a stab wound in the stomach area.
He went on to breach the DVPO, and was fined £50. At the time, Swindon Magistrates’ Court heard that he had become violent because Culleton refused to have a child with him.
At today’s hearing, PC Grindrod alleged that had been a “history of violence” between the couple “fuelled by alcohol addiction”, but neither support police investigations.
She asked the magistrates to grant a new DVPO to give them “time to think about the toxicity of the relationship”.
The bench granted a 28-day order, which prohibits Culleton from entering Devizes and Trowbridge and contacting or molesting Dafaalah.
