A woman’s been arrested and a man is ‘being sought’ by police detectives after stabbing outside Tesco Extra in Swindon last night.
Emergency services were called to Ocotal Way shortly before 10pm on Saturday evening following a report of a man being attacked by someone with a knife.
A 44-year-old Swindon man sustained a serious injury to his chest and arm and was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition receiving treatment.
One man is wanted by police in connection with the incident and a 31-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of aiding and abetting grievous bodily harm.
Detective Sergeant Scott Anger, of Swindon CID, is appealing for any witnesses who have not yet come forward, to make contact with officers.
“This was a really nasty incident – the victim sustained a serious injury but it could have been much worse. It is fortunate that the injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
“I would like to thank the members of the public and Tesco staff who assisted in providing first aid to the victim and remained at the scene to provide vital information to officers following the incident.
“This information led us to arrest a 31-year-old woman on suspicion of aiding and abetting grievous bodily harm. She was taken to Gablecross custody and has since been released under investigation while our enquiries continue.
“A man is also being sought in relation to this incident and I would appeal to any further witnesses to the incident, who have not yet provided information to contact detectives via 101. Alternatively, you could provide information anonymously to Crimestoppers via 0800 555 111.”
