A woman has been arrested after a £1,200 shoplifting spree in Wiltshire.

As part of Operation Dasher, police were patrolling shopping areas in the Malmesbury and Chippenham on Friday (5 December).

During the high-visibility patrols, officers managed to catch a shoplifter – who had taken goods worth around £1,200.

The thefts were committed in Waitrose, M&S and Sainsbury’s, Wiltshire Police confirmed.

A 50-year-old woman from Gloucestershire was arrested.

She was later released on bail with conditions not to enter Wiltshire while the investigation continues.

“We’re committed to keeping your shopping trips safe this festive season”, a spokesperson for the force said.
