Wiltshire Police headquarters evacuated after suspicious package found

Wiltshire Police HQ was evacuated following the discovery of a suspicious package today.

The package was found at around 4.30pm this afternoon, sparking a call to Explosive Ordnance Disposal, who attended the scene and carried out an assessment of the find in Devizes.

Following an examination of the package, it was confirmed that it was not dangerous.

Wiltshire Police said the incident was dealt with quickly and staff have now returned to the site.

“At approx 4.30pm today (18/06), part of Police HQ in Devizes was evacuated as a precaution after a suspicious package was found on site”, a spokesperson said.

“Colleagues from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team arrived on site and after examining the contents confirmed that the package was not dangerous.”
