A Wiltshire man is being held in custody after asking to see a teenage girl’s breasts.

Peter Cox, who also goes by the name Pete Barnett, was arrested on 18 November – after talking to a real 15-year-old for for around 18 days.

The 32-year-old, of Newton Grove, Malmesbury, has previous convictions for sexual offending in 2019 and is currently under a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).

Wiltshire Police charged him with three new crimes and remanded him in police custody ahead of a hearing at Swindon Magistrates’ Court on 20 November.

He pleaded guilty to two counts of breaching a SHPO and one count of engaging in sexual communication with a child between 31 October and 18 November.

The latter charge states that Cox ‘encouraged her to make a communication that was sexual and to show her naked breasts to him’.

The SHPO breaches relate to engaging in conversation with any female child under the age of 16 without the consent of the child’s legal parent or guardian.

The man, who previously lived in Trowbridge, has been remanded into custody ahead of sentencing on 9 January at Swindon Crown Court.

Investigating officer PC Luke Lo Bianco of the Volume Crime Team said: “Peter made the conscious decision to sexually communicate with a child whilst fully aware of the terms of his SHPO, and without consideration of the impact on the victim and family.

“The robust action of the court to remand Peter into custody will ensure that he is not able to continue offending prior to his sentencing.”
