A man has been charged in connection with a murder investigation launched following the death of a one-month-old baby in Newbury.
Police were called to an address in Fountain Gardens, Ashridge Court by South Central Ambulance Service at about 1.50am on Saturday, 9 May 2020, following reports that a one-month-old baby boy was in cardiac arrest.
The baby was taken to hospital for treatment but later died. He was formally identified as Colby Lawton, who was born on 10 April, 2020.
On 14 May last year, a man and a woman, both from Newbury, were arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with this investigation. They were later released on bail.
Yesterday, they were rearrested. James Lawton, aged 27, of Boreham Field, Warminster, Wiltshire, has been charged with one count of murder and grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent in relation to the incident.
He has been remanded in custody to appear at Reading Magistrates’ Court Court today.
A 25-year-old woman from Newbury has been released on bail.
