Wiltshire Police has revealed that two women were struck by a car in Swindon town centre on Saturday (5 November).
One of the casualties was rushed to hospital with serious injuries after a red Suzuki Splash ploughed into her in John Street, off Fleet Street, at around 5pm.
The car reportedly mounted the kerb and struck the victims before impacting a wooden fence around a construction site.
The other women involved in the incident sustained minor wounds — and isn’t thought to have required hospital treatment.
The male driver of the car remained at the scene and no arrests have been made.
The force has this morning (6 November) launched and appeal for witnesses.
A spokesperson said: “We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed a road traffic collision in which two people were struck by a car which mounted the kerb in John Street Swindon at about 5pm yesterday (05/11).
“One of the pedestrians sustained serious injuries and was transported to Great Western Hospital in Swindon, the other suffered minor injuries.
“The driver remained at the scene of the collision and no arrests were made.
