Tributes have been paid to a ‘legend’ who died following an assault in Swindon.

53-year-old Terry Ricketts sustained fatal injuries in an attack at a property in Westbourne Court, Rodbourne, at around 1am on Sunday (25 February).

A man, aged in his 30s, was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody for questioning.

On Facebook, Terry’s daughter Kayleigh wrote: “Love you so much dad… forever 53”.

A neighbour, who does not wish to be named, told of how Terry was a friendly face locally.

“Terry was so lovely and friendly. I knew him well and can’t believe he has passed on.

“It’s devastating really but I don’t know anything about what happened that night but I hope who ever did it goes down for a very long time.”

On social media, dozens of people paid their respects – one describing Terry as a “legend”.

They posed: “R.I.P – Terry Ricketts what a loss. Thinking of your family forever a legend.”

Another wrote: “RIP Terry u will be missed so much thoughts are with your family”.

One friend said: “I can’t believe this news, RIP TJ, miss you”
