James Dixey, was a passenger in a van involved in a crash on the A346 near Burbage shortly after 6.15am on Wednesday (1 December).
In a moving joint statement, James’ loved ones have paid tribute to a devoted family man who had time for everyone – a man described by his wife as her hero and soulmate.
“James Dixey, lovingly known to all as Jim, was a devoted family man – described by his wife Kay as her hero, soulmate and best friend.
“Jim would do anything for anyone at the drop of a hat and was a real family-orientated man.
“He loved watching the rugby, fishing with his grandchildren and playing snooker with his brother. He will be sorely missed by his large family.
“Our thoughts are with Mr Dixey’s family and friends and we ask that their privacy is respected.”
Police are continuing to appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision or anyone who may have dash cam footage to contact them by calling 101 and quoting log number 31 of 1 December.
