UPDATE: Man killed in A4 crash as car and van collide head-on near Avebury
Three people have been seriously hurt in a crash on the A4 near Avebury.
Emergency services were called to a road traffic collision in West Kennett at around 12.30pm this afternoon (Bank Holiday Monday).
Wiltshire Air Ambulance was among the 999 crews sent to the incident, which involved two vehicles.
Three people were injured in the crash, but it’s not yet clear how seriously.
The route is closed between Beckhampton and Marlborough for forensic collision investigation work and is expected to remain shut for the rest of the day.
Wiltshire Police is asking motorists not to ignore the road closures in place.
A spokesperson said: “Roads Policing Unit are at scene dealing with a serious collision on the A4, the road will be closed for detailed investigation work.
“Diversions are in place, please follow directions and don’t push through the closures.”
