PC Paul Bezzant nicked the fictional character in The Brunel shopping centre today (Friday).
The famous green and furry creature was taken into custody to prevent him stealing Christmas.
In a statement, a police spokesperson said: “The Grinch has been arrested.
“Rest easy people of Swindon, Central South Swindon Neighbourhood Officers have today located and arrested The Grinch. We have Saved Christmas!”
