A teenager has been arrested after a machete was pointed at a young boy in Swindon.

Armed police were deployed in the Oakhurst area at around 5.30pm on Monday (8 May) following a report of the concerning incident.

It said a young boy was on Ulysses Road when two males on bicycles rode past – with one pointing a large blade at him.

Firearms officers carried out extensive searches for the suspects involved, detaining a teenage boy.

The 17-year-old was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and a machete was seized. He has since been released on bail.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “No threats were made and nobody was injured however the incident left the victim feeling understandably very shaken up.

“Enquiries in relation to the incident remain ongoing and we would urge anyone with information or any witnesses to call 101 and quote log number 230 of May 8.”
