A Swindon road was closed this morning after firefighters were called to battle a shed fire.

Two fire crews, from Swindon and Stratton stations, were sent to the fire in Beatrice Street in Gorse Hill at around 9.40am.

On arrival, they found a shed fully ablaze in the back garden of a property.

It was swiftly extinguished by two breathing apparatus wearers using two hose reel jets, drags and forks.

The road was closed by police for approximately an house whilst firefighters worked at the scene.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “We attended in support of the fire service who were called to reports of a garden shed alight at a property on Beatrice Street, Gorse Hill, Swindon at 9.40am.

“We have no reports of persons trapped or injured. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.”
