A Swindon road has been closed in both directions after a car reportedly overturned.
Police have shut Chestnut Avenue in Pinehurst after being called to the road traffic collision at around 4.30pm today (26 October).
Fire engines and ambulance crews are in attendance as 999 personnel work to release any trapped occupants and make the scene safe.
“There is an overturned car”, local resident told Wiltshire 999s via the Wiltshire Incidents group on Facebook.
Another witness says they saw an elderly woman extricated from the vehicle by firefighters who removed the roof. She has since been taken to an ambulance.
A spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were called to a one vehicle road traffic collision in Chestnut Avenue, Pinehurst at 4.36pm and two crews are in attendance, from Swindon and Stratton.
“There appears to be one casualty still in the vehicle and we are working with ambulance and police colleagues to assist.”
The road closure is causing traffic chaos in Pinehurst Road and Cricklade Road as the busy cut-through remains closed during rush hour.
Wiltshire Police has been approached for comment.
