A police officer was assaulted by a teenage girl at an incident in North Swindon this morning.
Officers were called to a report of a disorder at a property in Renoir Close at around 1am. At the scene, a 17-year-old girl was asked to accompany officers back to her current home address.
Instead of complying with the officer’s request, she refused and then became aggressive towards them, kicking a male officer three times in the leg.
A 17-year-old female was arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker and is currently in custody at Gablecross Police Station.
The officer received minor injuries and was able to continue his work on duty.
Insp David Tippetts said: “The officers were called to try and help keep this person safe and take them home.
“Luckily, the officer was not seriously injured, but it could have been more serious.
“This sort of behaviour towards our officers is unacceptable. They should not have to be subjected to this kind of abuse as they go about their duties to keep the general public safe.”
