A Swindon man is in custody after allegedly launching a sex attack on a man while carrying two weapons in the town centre.
Craig Nelson has been remanded in police custody after being charged with five offences following an incident in Bridge Street on Tuesday (4 November).
The 39-year-old faces allegations of sexual assault on a male, common assault of the same male, and possession of a hammer and Stanley knife in a public place.
He’s also charged with racially or religiously aggravated harassment, alarm or distress on the same date.
The defendant, of Bridge Street, is due to appear before Swindon Magistrates’ Court this morning (Thursday).
Alleged victims of sexual crimes have the right to lifelong anonymity. It is an imprisonable criminal offence to share any piece of information that could lead to their identification.
