A Swindon man has been jailed after a violent attack left a woman traumatised.
44-year-old Kyle Milsom caused his victim deep cuts that required hospital treatment when he assaulted her on 10 December last year.
The defendant, of Linden Avenue, Pinehurst, pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm. He also admitted an offence of battery.
In a statement read to the court, his victim said: “On returning home from hospital my children don’t want to look at me or cuddle me, and as a mother I found this the hardest.”
She added: “This attack has left us all feeling vulnerable and traumatised.”
At Swindon Crown Court on 18 April, he was jailed for two years and ten months.
Milsom was also slapped with a seven-year restraining order, which prohibits him from contacting the victim.
“Whilst I do not underestimate the long lasting effects Milsom’s behaviour will have on his victim, I have nothing but admiration for her for having the courage and bravery to report her ordeal to police”, PC Sam Bridgeman said.
They added: “This is the first step in ensuring justice could be served and I hope this sentence is reassuring to both her and the community that we will do all we can to ensure perpetrators are put before the courts.”
