A Swindon man who sexually assaulted a police officer on Christmas Day has avoided a time behind bars for his crime.
35-year-old Christopher Plumb admitted the offence at a previous hearing at Swindon Magistrates Court, before returning for sentence last week.
The defendant, of Munro Close, carried out a sexual assault on a male police officer – who was on duty – during an incident on 25 December 2025.
District Judge Allman handed down an eight-month community order with 100 hours of unpaid work and 15 rehabilitation activity days.
Because the sentence term is under 12 months, Plumb does not have to register as a sex offender.
He was also told to pay the police officer compensation of £200. The court made a collection order – with deductions being made from his benefits at a rate of £20 a month.
