A drink driver has been banned from the roads after a tip-off from a member of the public.
Police were called to a report of a vehicle being driving in an erratic manner on the M4 and into Swindon shortly before 5am on 17 March this year.
48-year-old Ion Tintiuc was spotted exiting his car and entering his property in Homington Avenue, where he was located by officers.
He subsequently blew over the drink drive limit and was arrested and charged with drink driving.
Tintiuc appeared at Swindon Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday morning (2 April) and pleaded guilty to the offence.
He was disqualified from driving for 12 months, fined £300 and required to pay a victim surcharge of £120 and court costs of £85.
Roads Policing Officer Luke Hobbs said: “This case shows the importance of information and intelligence from members of the public.
“I’d like to thank the member of the public who had seen Tintiuc swerving all over the road and reported him to us.
“There can never be any excuse for drink driving. If you have been out drinking, always find a safe way to get home.”
